Despite missing his first two seasons due to military service, he would make his league in the 1989-90 season and win NBA Rookie of the Year. In 1995, he won NBA MVP after averaging 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game. Additionally, he helped lead the franchise to two NBA Finals titles throughout his 14-year career. 36 years after the Spurs drafted the Admiral, they selected Wembaynama first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.
