The Thunder drafted Harden third overall in the 2009 NBA Draft and he would play the first three years of his career there alongside Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. He earned NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors after recording 9.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in his first year. Following his tenure with the Thunder, Harden would go on to become one of the greatest scoring guards the league has ever seen. He averaged at least 30 points per game each season between 2017-2019, which he spent with the Houston Rockets, and his 36.1 points per game in the 2018-19 season not only earned him his first NBA MVP, but it also made him only the third player in NBA history to average at least 36 points per game in a season. The Denver Nuggets season didnt end as they hoped for, with a Game 7 loss in the second round to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the Nuggets played well enough that interim head coach David Adelman is now a strong contender to get that role on a permanent basis. Nuggets governor Josh Kroenke didnt address the spot permanently, but told ESPN how proud he was of his team.
